This is a representative selection of the poetry of Nadir Kakorvi. Nadir was a consummate Urdu poet and also an aficionado of English literature. He translated the poems of Byron and Shelley into Urdu, as well as the writings of Sir Thomas Moore. In this manner, Nadir's original Urdu poems also acquired a compactness and organizational brevity that many classical Urdu poets lacked because of their penchant for the Ghazal form, in which the theme of each distich varies from the other.
