“Ataturk Military & Turkey: Views and Implementations” is written by retired Lieutenant General Suat Ilhan who is well known for his military studies and is extremely learned in this subject. This book describes in full not only Ataturk the Soldier’s views, but also his implementations, of the military. The author has also dealt with the wars and military operations Ataturk took part in before the War of Independence. He has also given the account of the significant strategic operations. Ataturk distinguished himself not only as a soldier, a statesman, a reformer and a leader in home and foreign politics but also as a political organizer. During the period when he was elected President of the Republic, he never put on military uniform. He in fact drew a clear demarcation line between the army and politics. In short, this book is the fruit of a serious, long and meticulous research and admirably describes Ataturk as the military genius.
